Successful First MUN Conference of the Year Back to archive
29th September 2017

The MUN conference season has begun as Reigate Grammar School’s Model United Nations Conference, ReiMUN 21, took place last Saturday and Benenden took along two delegations: Permanent Five Security Council Member country, China, and also the much beleaguered African state of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

With a mixture of novice and experienced MUNers going, it was fantastic that every Benenden delegate was able to get really involved and each make useful and constructive contributions: points of information and speeches, resolutions and amendments being debated in committee, and even participation in the large General Assembly towards the end of the day.

Under the careful guidance of two Benenden students acting as Ambassadors for China and DR Congo respectively it was great to see all of our MUN students speaking with confidence, clarity and thoughtfulness. This was a really positive first MUN conference of the year for us, especially seeing one girl being Highly Commended in Disarmament and International Security as DR Congo.

Good luck to those girls currently preparing for the next external conferences at Wycombe Abbey, King’s Canterbury and then Royal Russell School coming up in October.

Well done to all who attended ReiMUN and to those who helped them prepare.
