Tatler Schools Guide

Below is what the Tatler Schools Guide said when they reviewed Benenden in 2017:

Benenden

We are big fans of fabulous head Samantha Price. Unafraid to stick her neck out, she’s intent on preparing her girls for the cut-throat modern workplace rather than creating some cosy Oxbridge nesting box.

There’s now an entrepreneur-in-residence and PwC has given an official thumbs-up to the School’s trailblazing Professional Skills Programme for sixth-formers, last year overseen by one of Lord Sugar’s original advisers on The Apprentice.

They do rather love a telly celebrity here: the new all-weather pitch was opened by Davina McCall and MasterChef’s Marcus Wareing enjoyed judging the Great Benenden Bake Off so much that he’s back again for another helping, to much maternal delight.

Don’t panic, though. There’s plenty of good old-fashioned common sense in this full-boarding outfit – earlier this year, girls initiated a ‘phone fast’ and relinquished their mobiles for three whole days. Lacrosse and Netball remain insanely popular and are played at national level; Cricket is now taking off too. The School Choir recently sang for old girl the Princess Royal at St James’s Palace; they also recorded a CD, which the BBC dubbed ‘fantastically impressive’.

Results are rocketing with A* A-level grades at 32 per cent. Girls are happy all-rounders who typically come from prep schools across London and the South-East, with a growing East Anglia cohort. Register four years in advance or prepare to watch the online waiting list like a hawk.
